As a result of the 2106 presidential election and the exposure of the mainstream media’s difficulty with actually reporting the truth, the term “fake news” has now permeated our psyches and looks to become a permanent fixture in our cultural landscape.
Of course, it’s not going away just because it’s been exposed. Yesterday, we reported on a vintage racist campaign ad for Donald Trump’s father which was picked up by the Washington Post’s “fact checker” (no less) and reported on by a slew of journalists until it was revealed the ad was indeed a hoax (Trump’s father never ran for office).

“Fake news” is becoming a punchline all its own, but poor Bernie Sanders just found out it’s not particularly funny to journalists who purvey it.
When he made a joke about watching “fake news” on CNN, his mic was inexplicably cut off. Even President Trump noticed it.
While on FAKE NEWS @CNN, Bernie Sanders was cut off for using the term fake news to describe the network. They said technical difficulties!

Biz Pic Review reports, appearing on CNN on Friday, Sanders was reacting to a report claiming President Donald Trump’s national security adviser, Michael Flynn, discussed Russian sanctions with the country’s ambassador to the U.S. a month before Trump was sworn in.
“This is a very troubling development,” Sanders told CNN’s Erin Burnett on “Outfront” on Friday.
“It speaks to the broader issue of Russia’s involvement in our elections” and “to the issue of President Trump being buddy-buddy with a thug and a murderer,” he said, referring to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Burnett asked if Trump was telling the truth when he told reporters he had not seen the report, as a video clip was played with the president’s response.
“Well, I don’t know. Maybe he was watching CNN fake news,” Sanders said. “What do you think?”
Burnett smiled and appeared to laugh as Sanders added, “It was a joke.”
