Conservative radio host Mark Levin SLAMMED CNN and their media analyst Brian Stelter in an email exchange on Thursday, adding to the network’s truly miserable week.
It all began with a column written by the Media Research Center’s Brent Bozell and Tim Graham, in which they slammed the media for refusing to cover Levin’s new book, Rediscovering Americanism: And The Tyranny of Progressivism.
The Daily Wire reports,
The media fawned over Sen. Al Franken’s (D-MN) book in a myriad of interviews and book reviews, yet have basically ignored Levin’s book even though it has been enormously popular.
“Once again, Levin is being shunned by the thought police,” Bozell and Graham wrote. “Witness that though it’s a runaway best seller, now seven days consecutively, the establishment media have censored him completely, with not a single interview granted.”
Bozell and Graham’s column shamed Stelter into emailing Levin a request to come on his show. Levin immediately rebuffed Stelter’s invite.
“Are you kidding me?” Levin wrote back. “Buddy, I’ve zero respect for CNN or you. You’re a propagandist.”
Stelter then asked Levin if he agreed with Bozell and Graham’s claim that he’s being blackballed by the media.
“You only asked after they issued their statement,” Levin responded. “Why is that? Now you can say you asked. Make sure you get the order of things right. You’re not very good at that.”
Levin added, “Also make sure you report that I dismissed you as a propagandist and CNN as a joke.”
Stelter proceeded to ask Levin, “What did I do to anger you?” Levin didn’t respond.
In his newsletter, Stelter paraded his exchange with Levin as proof that Bozell and Graham were wrong in their criticism of the media — and Mediaite dutifully echoed Stelter’s claim — however, as Paul Bedard noted in The Washington Examiner, Stelter and Mediaite both failed to mention that Levin explicitly told Stelter that the only reason he invited him on his show was to “say you asked.”
Levin addressed the matter on his Thursday radio program, stating that “some have” given him invites, but “I want to talk to you, it’s about us. I don’t care what the so-called mainstream media think about any of this.”
As for Stelter, Levin pointed out that back in March, Stelter completely botched the issue of the Obama administration’s surveillance of the Trump team that Levin brought to light.
“His program is notoriously biased, and I personally think he’s rather stupid,” Levin said. “So what’s the point?”
Levin added that “nobody watches” Stelter’s show on CNN.
Stelter and Levin’s feud in March stemmed from Stelter calling Levin’s claims that the Obama administration was surveilling the Trump team a “conspiracy theory” with “no evidence.” Levin sent Stelter a lengthy letter excoriating him for being “thoroughly dishonest”:
