Republican Alabama Rep. Mo Brooks just might use the Bible to help get President Donald Trump’s border wall funded.
The congressman is one of the three major candidates in the race to succeed now-Attorney General Jeff Sessions Senate seat.

Brooks released a video in which he threatened to shut down the government in the U.S. Senate if they do not fund Trump’s border wall.
“President Trump promised a wall to keep us safe and to protect American jobs for American works,” Brooks said.
Brooks then said that even some establishment Republicans are blocking the way for funding, adding that he would fight any spending bill that didn’t fund the wall.
And then he made a threat that might just put some fear into some senators: “And if I have to filibuster on the Senate floor, I’ll even read the King James Bible until the wall is funded. And you know what? Washington could benefit from that.”
There have been some creative filibusters in the past but this one, if it happens, might just take the cake.
There should be no doubt in anyone’s mind that Washington could benefit from hearing the Bible being read, and there should not be any doubt many people would enjoy watching Brooks read it.
Brooks was one of many that could have ended up shot at the GOP congressional baseball game practice that landed Steve Scalise in the hospital. In fact, Brooks’ name was on the shooter’s hit list. Luckily, he did not become a victim that day.
The primary race is on Aug. 15, and then the top two contenders are expected to have a run-off in September.
