Stuart Ramsay found himself at the centre of the blast as he was reporting from the front line of the battle to reclaim the Iraqi city.
The journalist was forced to head towards the fighting after his armoured Humvee was wrecked by the impact.

He soon met up with soldiers making a drone bomb to take out ISIS militants after having sprinted through the devastated city, escaping enemy snipers.
However, things take another turn for the worse as the soldiers around him start to shout and run.
In the shocking segment, Ramsay jumps into an armoured vehicle nearby before a huge blast decimates the area.
Fire and smoke soon fills the atmosphere, with debris and bits of twisted metal being flung across the air because of the explosion.
The terrorist group later released drone footage of the horrifying fireball created by the bomb blast.
But Ramsay manages to escape unscathed despite the ordeal.
He said: “I felt my arms and legs. They were all there. I wasn’t hurt at all. None of us could believe it.”
It was only while trying to find shelter afterwards from helicopter gunmen and snipers did he discover it was a bulldozer parked beside the vehicle he was in that had saved him.
